Investigation Underway into Apparent Murder-Suicide in West Goshen

WEST GOSHEN — Law enforcement officials in Chester County are currently investigating a case involving the deaths of two men, which authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. The Chester County District Attorney’s detectives and the West Goshen police are working together to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The District Attorney’s office released a statement confirming that the ongoing investigation is being treated as a murder-suicide case. The incident came to light on Tuesday when the West Goshen Township police received a call to check on the well-being of Derek Calzadillas, a 41-year-old man who had not been in contact with his family for over 24 hours.

Upon arrival at Calzadillas’ residence on Hightop Road at around 4:15 p.m., the police officers discovered a man lying lifeless on the floor, visible through a window. Concerned for the individual’s safety, they swiftly entered the premises and called for emergency medical services.

The unresponsive person was identified as Kai O’Connor, a 22-year-old resident of the house. He was immediately transported to Chester County Hospital by EMS but was tragically pronounced dead later. Furthermore, the police discovered the lifeless body of Derek Calzadillas in a closet within the residence. Officials have confirmed that firearms were not involved in the incident.
