Burglary Suspect Accused of Attacking Sanford Officer During Arrest

Orlando Man Arrested After Attempted Break-In

SANFORD, Fla. – A burglary suspect is facing charges of fraud, aggravated battery, burglary, loitering, and violently resisting an officer after he allegedly attacked a Sanford police officer during an arrest on New Year’s Day.

According to the Sanford Police Department, the incident occurred when the officer responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle behind a residence on West 20th Street at approximately 11:35 p.m.

Upon arrival, the officer discovered 23-year-old Archange Dessin, an Orlando man, attempting to gain entry into the back of the house. Dessin initially refused to identify himself and claimed he was visiting a friend of his girlfriend.

The officer found Dessin’s behavior suspicious and decided to detain him. However, Dessin resisted arrest and managed to flee the scene. The officer gave chase and was able to apprehend Dessin, bringing him to the ground.

During the struggle, Dessin allegedly assaulted the officer by grabbing and squeezing his genitals. In self-defense, the officer punched Dessin’s head multiple times, forcing him to release his grip. Backup arrived, and Dessin was eventually taken into custody.

Upon searching Dessin, police found a purse containing various items, including a Florida driver’s license, a dental health card, and several bank cards. However, none of these items belonged to Dessin.

The resident of the house confirmed that he did not know Dessin and stated that Dessin had attempted to enter his home without permission.

Dessin is currently being held on a bond of $65,763. He faces multiple charges related to the incident.
