The unfortunate incident that occurred on December 26th involved a southbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Michael Murphy, a resident of Sheboygan. Murphy’s vehicle veered off I-43 at Manitowoc County Highway “XX,” colliding with a guardrail before ultimately crashing into a tree. No further details regarding this particular accident have been unveiled.

Two days later, on December 28th, a single individual identified as 56-year-old John Schneider from Green Bay was operating a northbound S-10 pickup truck on I-43. Schneider’s vehicle left the road, entering the median where it collided with a guardrail. The pickup truck then proceeded down a steep embankment, finally coming to a halt on the south side of the Manitowoc River.

However, the most severe accident out of the three involved two northbound vehicles on Christmas Day at Fischer Creek Road. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe, Mark Vinton, aged 60 and a resident of Manitowoc, was struck by a northbound Suburban. The impact sent both vehicles spiraling out of control. The Tahoe veered into the median, striking the end of a guardrail before finally stopping in the southbound lanes of I-43. Mark Vinton and his 66-year-old female passenger from Two Rivers were both transported to receive medical treatment for their non-life-threatening injuries.

Tragically, the passengers in the Suburban that collided with Vinton’s Tahoe did not survive their injuries. The deceased individuals have been identified as 71-year-old Clarine Slezewski and 38-year-old Heather Arcaro-Slezewski, both residents of Green Bay. The driver of the Suburban, Philip Slezewski, aged 38 and also from Green Bay, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses. These charges include two counts of Causing Death by knowingly operating a vehicle while under suspension, two counts of Causing Great Bodily Harm by knowingly operating a vehicle while under suspension, Possession of THC, Violation of Child Safety Restraint, and Operating a motor vehicle without insurance. No information regarding court appearances for Philip Slezewski has been provided in the Wednesday afternoon release.
