Investigation Launched by Richmond Police Department Following Shooting Incident at Chippenham Hospital’s Mental Health Facility

The Richmond Police Department has initiated an investigation after a distressing incident occurred, involving a patient and a police officer who were both shot at the Tucker’s Pavilion, a mental health facility located within Chippenham Hospital.

On Friday, December 22, at approximately 4:11 a.m., authorities received an urgent call reporting a shooting incident at the Tucker’s Pavilion situated within Chippenham Hospital. Promptly responding to the distress call, officers stationed in the emergency area of the hospital swiftly arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a male individual who had sustained gunshot wounds, fortunately classified as non-life-threatening. The wounded victim was later identified as a patient currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Simultaneously, the officers apprehended the suspect, a 27-year-old man hailing from Glen Allen, who complied peacefully and was taken into custody without any further issues.
