Accident – death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released officer-worn body-camera footage and identified the suspect involved in a fatal officer-involved shooting on Thursday.
The suspect has been identified as Iesel Torres Santiago, a 33-year-old individual who was found in a stolen van at a drive-thru and was armed with a loaded handgun at the time of the shooting, according to the police.

The incident took place on December 28th along the 1700 block of West Charleston Boulevard and I-15.
Prior to the shooting, officers received a report of a stolen van near Charleston Boulevard and Rancho Drive shortly after 9:30 p.m. The van had been reported stolen on December 25th, 2023, as confirmed by the police.
Upon arriving in the area, the officers noticed a van that matched the stolen vehicle’s description at a drive-thru in the 1800 block of West Charleston.
In an attempt to apprehend the suspect, the officers blocked the vehicle with their patrol car. However, Santiago quickly exited the front passenger door of the van and fled eastbound on Charleston Boulevard while carrying the gun.

The pursuit lasted over a minute and covered a distance of more than 300 yards, as reported by the police.
Eventually, an officer caught up to Santiago, who was found on the ground still holding the gun.
Despite repeated verbal commands from the officers to drop the weapon, Santiago refused to comply. As a result, the police were forced to fire at him.
Following the shooting, Santiago was taken into custody by the officers, and medical assistance was immediately requested. Unfortunately, Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
If Santiago had survived, he would have faced several charges, including resisting arrest with a weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon against a law enforcement officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The officers involved in the incident have been identified as Officer Joseph Bringhurst and Officer Richard Rivera.
Officer Bringhurst, 33, has been a member of the LVMPD since 2018 and is currently assigned to the West Community Policing Division, Bolden Area Command.
During the shooting, Officer Bringhurst discharged a total of 11 rounds, as determined by the ongoing investigation.
Officer Rivera, 28, has been with the LVMPD since 2017 and is also assigned to the West Community Policing Division, Bolden Area Command.
The investigation has revealed that Officer Rivera fired four rounds during the shooting.
This incident marks the 10th officer-involved shooting for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department this year. It follows a separate police shooting on Wednesday, where a man suspected of killing his mother and carjacking multiple individuals was shot and killed by officers. Unfortunately, one of the carjacking victims was also fatally shot.
