Driver Unable to Stop in Time Before South Lubbock Crash, Reports Say

LUBBOCK, Texas – EverythingLubbock.com has obtained a redacted police report that provides a detailed account of the events leading up to a serious crash that left a 59-year-old man with severe injuries.

According to the report, the incident occurred at the intersection of 137th Street and University Avenue, where emergency services were called to attend to a collision with injuries. The driver involved, identified as 22-year-old Aleks Martinez, informed officers that she was traveling northbound on University Avenue when the accident occurred, resulting in a collision with Paul Billington, aged 59.

The report further stated that Martinez observed Billington attempting to cross the road but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Following the incident, Martinez promptly dialed 9-1-1 to report the crash.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and transported Billington to University Medical Center for medical treatment. Martinez, on the other hand, also complained of glass particles in her eyes and was subsequently taken to UMC for examination.
