Furthermore, several shell casings were found inside the car, indicating possible prior use of the weapon. The vehicle’s registered owner was subsequently identified as a convicted felon, which raised immediate concerns.

Following a thorough search, the suspect, 48-year-old Eric Jacobs from Durham, was located and apprehended by Durham police officers. Jacobs now faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm as a felon, as well as misdemeanor hit-and-run. He is currently being held at the Durham County Jail, with bail set at $25,000.
