Homeowner Arrested for Allegedly Killing 71-Year-Old Man in California

A homeowner has been taken into custody by California police following accusations of fatally harming a 71-year-old man. The incident took place on January 1, when law enforcement officers responded to a medical aid call at a property in Landers. Upon arrival, they discovered the homeowner, identified as William Durst, 54, from Santa Monica, and the deceased individual, Jeffrey Cull, who resided at the same property. According to a news release issued on January 2 by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Cull was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Durst had visited the property with the intention of forcing Cull to leave. Allegedly, an argument ensued between the two when Cull refused to comply. The situation escalated, and Durst is accused of using bear spray on Cull before putting him in a chokehold, causing him to lose consciousness. Tragically, Cull succumbed to his injuries. Subsequently, Durst was apprehended by the authorities and subsequently booked into Morongo Basin jail on a murder charge.
