Buriram Man Seeks to Settle 200,000 Baht Truck Debt as Creditor Remains Absent

A peculiar and increasingly complex situation has unfolded in Buriram, Thailand. Wichai, a 37-year-old debtor, is determined to pay off the remaining 200,000 baht owed on a ten-wheeler truck he purchased in 2022. However, his creditor, Supit, aged 51, is allegedly avoiding him.

Feeling frustrated and left with no other option, Wichai decided to take his complaints to the Damrongdhama Centre in Buriram. He claims that Supit has been continuously refusing to accept the remaining payment for the truck, which was initially sold for 600,000 baht. Wichai has diligently documented his efforts to pay her, but all his attempts to reach out to her have been in vain.

Recently, the situation took an unexpected turn when a renowned lawyer contacted Wichai. The lawyer presented him with two options: either pay the full amount of 280,000 baht or return the truck. Failure to comply with either option would result in legal action against Wichai for theft. This sudden development left Wichai in a state of shock and fear.

Curiosity led reporters to visit Supit’s home in Nong Hong district, only to find it completely empty. They managed to get in touch with Kamjun, a 55-year-old man who identified himself as Supit’s husband. Kamjun explained that Wichai had defaulted on the instalments in April, violating the terms of their annual payment agreement. After their unsuccessful attempts to contact Wichai, they discovered that he had pawned the truck at a tent garage.

However, Wichai strongly denied pawning the truck. He clarified that he had parked it at a garage for repairs. His argument was simple yet logical – if he had indeed pawned the truck, it wouldn’t be there anymore. Wichai urged the owner or an authorized representative to follow the correct procedure, including charging interest for the late payment. He assured that he is fully prepared to make the payment and plans to do so at the Legal Execution Department.

During their investigation, reporters visited the parking lot mentioned by Wichai. Surprisingly, they found the truck in question still parked there, just as he had claimed. A 36-year-old mechanic named Bank, who works at the garage, confirmed that the truck was brought in for repairs. However, he mentioned that the owner had not yet paid for the required parts, so he had moved on to other jobs. Bank asserted his ignorance regarding any other issues, emphasizing that he is solely a mechanic.

Seeking Resolution through Legal Channels

As the situation continues to unfold, Wichai remains determined to settle the debt and clear any misunderstandings. With the truck’s whereabouts confirmed and his willingness to fulfill his financial obligation, Wichai hopes to resolve the matter through the Legal Execution Department.

The case has attracted significant attention and highlights the importance of clear communication and adherence to contractual agreements. Both parties involved must ensure they follow the proper procedures and seek resolution through legal channels.
