## Arrest Made in Christmas Day Burglary, Stolen Property Recovered

A Yuba County man has been arrested by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office following a reported burglary on Christmas Day. The arrest led to the alleged discovery of additional stolen items linked to the same victim.

According to the sheriff’s office, a burglary of construction tools from a contractor’s storage container took place at a property on Almora Road, north of Nevada City, around 8:30 a.m. on December 25th. The incident was reported to the authorities.

Following an investigation, authorities identified 32-year-old Dustin Million Jr. of Camptonville as the suspect in the alleged burglary. He was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime was impounded, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

In addition to Million’s arrest, investigators uncovered “thousands of dollars’ worth of the victims’ stolen tools” at a Nevada City residence where the stolen property had allegedly been sold. The sheriff’s office revealed that a second burglary suspect and three others involved in the purchase and possession of the stolen items have been identified and referred to the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office for potential additional charges.

Deputies assigned to the North San Juan area of Nevada County had been working with the same victim following a previous burglary at the same location in November 2023, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victims took proactive measures based on the advice given by deputies, including installing video surveillance, inventorying their property, recording serial numbers, and marking tools with unique identifiers. These actions ultimately aided in identifying suspects and recovering a significant portion of the stolen property, the sheriff’s office said. Surveillance footage captured the suspect vehicle leaving the scene of the burglary, loaded with stolen items, and several deputies recognized the driver, Dustin Million, from prior encounters.

During the Christmas Day burglary, Million was accompanied by a passenger, identified as 41-year-old Steven Lillis of North San Juan. An officer from the Nevada City Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 49 in Nevada City at approximately 9:45 p.m. on December 25th, leading to Million’s apprehension. Million was wearing the same clothing seen in the surveillance video and was found in possession of a check made out to him for $2,000, with “tools” written in the memo. An inventory search of the suspect yielded stolen property from the burglary, as well as mail believed to be stolen from other victims.

Further investigation led deputies to a property on Holly Davo Place in Grass Valley. Just after midnight on December 26th, a probation search of the residence was conducted, resulting in the discovery of additional stolen property belonging to the same victim. The stolen items were allegedly found in a storage container.

Dustin Million Jr. has been booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. His bail has been set at $50,000. As of press time Tuesday, he remains in custody.

These arrests and the recovery of stolen property highlight the importance of proactive measures, such as video surveillance and property inventory, in assisting law enforcement in identifying suspects and solving crimes. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office commends the victims for their cooperation and encourages residents to take similar precautions to safeguard their belongings..
