Carrie Bernans found herself trapped under a food truck as the driver, attempting to escape the police, crashed into the outdoor dining area located in midtown Manhattan. The incident took place in the early hours of New Year’s Day, causing chaos and injuring pedestrians.

According to The Associated Press, Bernans suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones and chipped teeth, as a result of being struck by the car.

At the age of 29, Carrie Bernans has already made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Although her role as a member of the Dora Milaje fighting force in “Black Panther” was uncredited, it showcased her talent and dedication. Additionally, she recently showcased her skills in the musical adaptation of “The Color Purple,” which premiered just last month.

A heart-wrenching detail emerged through an Instagram post by Bernans’ mother, revealing that she is the mother of an 8-month-old son. Fortunately, her child was not present during the accident.

Although none of the individuals injured on the sidewalk suffered life-threatening injuries, the incident left a significant impact on the victims. The driver, who initially evaded police instructions to pull over, ended up driving on the sidewalk, colliding with a food cart and striking several pedestrians, including three females aged 39, 31, and 29.

According to a report by The New York Times, at least nine people were injured as a result of this horrifying incident.

Following the incident, the driver was promptly arrested and now faces charges including attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and driving under the influence.

Despite the physical and emotional toll of the accident, Carrie Bernans demonstrated remarkable resilience. In a heartfelt message shared on her GoFundMe page, she expressed her gratitude for the support received and stated that she remains “filled with hope and faith in the unfolding of a beautiful new chapter.”
