A tragic incident unfolded in Omaha early Wednesday morning when a 51-year-old man shot two women before allegedly ending his own life. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near 111th and Black streets at approximately 2:18 a.m. The incident was initially reported by a caller who stated that someone was bleeding and the father was armed with a gun. Subsequently, the caller informed the authorities that shots had been fired inside the house.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of the man, identified as Edmond Sagitteh, in the basement with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Inside the master bathroom, they found four women. A 19-year-old victim had been shot in the stomach, while a 46-year-old woman had suffered a graze wound on her hand. Two 15-year-old females were also present but remained unharmed.

According to the investigation, Sagitteh had armed himself with a handgun and targeted his 19-year-old daughter as she lay in a bed located in the basement. The daughter managed to escape to an upstairs bedroom, where she, her mother, and twin 15-year-old sisters attempted to barricade themselves. Sagitteh, now armed with a shotgun, attempted to gain entry by firing two rounds through the door, injuring the mother’s hand. The women sought refuge in the bathroom, where Sagitteh fired two more rounds through the door in an attempt to gain access. Despite their fear, they managed to hold the door shut. Sagitteh then attempted to insert the shotgun barrel through one of the holes in the door, but the women were able to deflect it in a safe direction while calling 911 for help.

Tragically, before the arrival of the deputies, Sagitteh took his own life in the basement. Alongside his body, authorities found the shotgun, a jammed handgun on the bed, and additional shotgun rounds in his pocket. The 46-year-old woman and the 19-year-old victim were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The identities of the victims are being withheld by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
