Teenager Fatally Shot in Lincoln County During New Year’s Eve Domestic Disturbance

In a tragic incident on New Year’s Eve, a 16-year-old boy named Matthew Robinson was fatally shot during a domestic disturbance at a residence on Dodson Road in Lincoln County, Missouri. The victim’s older sister, Jillian Stephens, spoke out for the first time about the incident.

On December 31, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance. Shortly after, it was revealed that a teenage boy had been shot and killed as a result of the altercation.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has stated that five individuals were present at the time of the incident and have all been taken in for questioning. While the authorities have not disclosed the nature of their relationship with the victim or the source of the firearm, Detective Alyssa Erson explained that a domestic disturbance encompasses any relationship, including family members, cohabitants, and romantic partners.

On Dodson Road, where the fatal shooting occurred, a small memorial has been set up in memory of Matthew Robinson. Passersby can see flowers, stuffed animals, and a cross bearing his name hanging on a signpost.

Stephens believes that her brother’s story needs to be heard, and she hopes that justice will be served in the case. The family and community are devastated by the loss of a young life.

The Lincoln County School District announced that Matthew Robinson was a student at New Horizons High School in Troy. The district released a statement expressing their condolences and offering support to the grieving family and affected individuals.

She explained that the impact of domestic violence can be long-lasting and affect individuals of all ages.

Turning Point has observed an increase in the number of children seeking shelter, with 50% of their clients now being under the age of 18. They offer the largest emergency shelter in the region, with 36 beds available.
