Woodbridge Mother Arrested and Charged with Felony Child Neglect

A Woodbridge mother, Olivia Matu Osei, has been arrested and charged with felony child neglect after her 8-year-old son was found walking alone in a roadway on New Year’s Day.

The incident occurred in Woodbridge, Virginia, when concerned individuals discovered the partially clothed boy walking in the area of Minnieville Road and Cardinal Drive. They immediately took him into their vehicle and attempted to locate his home, but were unsuccessful. They then reported the incident to the Prince William County Police Department.

Upon arrival, the police assessed the child’s condition and found him to be unharmed. They began searching the area and eventually located the boy’s residence. It was during this time that they identified Olivia Matu Osei as the boy’s mother.

According to the police, Osei claimed to be unaware that her son had left their home. However, based on their findings, the officers arrested her and charged her with felony child neglect.

The safety and well-being of the child were of utmost importance, and he has since been released into the custody of a relative or family friend.
