Man Faces Multiple Charges After Fleeing Traffic Stops and Injuring Rocky Hill Police Officer

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) — A man is facing several charges after he allegedly fled from two traffic stops and hit a police officer, causing minor injuries in Rocky Hill, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Wesley Brown, was arrested by the Rocky Hill police on January 1st following incidents on December 9th and December 26th.

On December 26th, a Rocky Hill patrol officer noticed a vehicle whose owner had an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer attempted to stop the driver, later identified as Wesley Brown, on Cold Spring Road.

Initially, Brown complied with the officer’s signal and pulled over. However, he suddenly accelerated, knocking the officer to the ground as the officer was trying to remove him from the car, as per the police report.

Rocky Hill police released the bodycam footage of the December 26th incident, providing a visual account of the events. The video can be watched in the player below.

Following the incident, Brown fled onto Interstate 91 North, and the pursuing officers lost sight of the vehicle as it entered Hartford, according to the police.

Wesley Brown now faces a total of 13 charges related to the December 26th incident, including interfering with an officer, assault on a public safety employee, reckless endangerment, and engaging police in pursuit.

In addition, Brown also faces six charges in connection to the December 9th incident, including interfering with an officer and engaging police in pursuit.

Brown appeared in court on Tuesday morning, and his case has been continued to January 16th. He is currently being held on bonds totaling $300,000.
