The Sacramento County community is devastated by the tragic loss of 10-year-old Keith Frierson, who was fatally shot by another child in a shocking incident over the weekend. Friends, family members, and concerned community members gathered on Monday night at the site of the shooting, located off Greenholme Drive, to hold a heartfelt vigil in his honor.

Keith’s mother, Brittani Frierson, tearfully recounted the events leading up to her son’s untimely death. She revealed that Keith had gone outside to ride his new bike after innocently asking for permission. Tragically, within a mere 15 minutes, Keith’s life was cut short as he engaged in a friendly bike race with other children he considered his friends.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Authorities swiftly arrested a 10-year-old boy and his father, identified as 53-year-old Arkete Davis, in connection with the shooting. Shockingly, investigators discovered that the 10-year-old child had obtained a gun from Davis’ vehicle, resulting in the fatal shooting of Keith Frierson. Detectives further revealed that Davis attempted to conceal the weapon by discarding it in a nearby trashcan.

Heartbroken and seeking justice for her son, Brittani expressed her anger towards Davis, accusing him of callously abandoning Keith and attempting to cover up the tragic incident. She vowed to fight for justice and ensure that Davis faces the consequences of his actions.

Nina Trepagnier, Keith’s godmother, joined the chorus of voices holding Davis responsible for both Keith’s death and the alleged shooter’s actions. Trepagnier firmly placed blame on the parents, emphasizing their failure to provide proper guidance and setting a poor example for their child.

During the emotional vigil, Keith’s loved ones fondly remembered him as a loving, selfless, and kind-hearted individual. Trepagnier described him as someone who always brought laughter and joy with his sense of humor, while also being dependable, respectful, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Keith was known for his passion for sports, particularly football. He played for the Jr. Foothill Mustangs, a team that held him in high regard. Coaches from the team attended the vigil to pay their respects to the “gentle giant” they had lost.

The investigation revealed that the gun used in the shooting had been reported stolen in 2017. Additionally, authorities discovered that Davis, a convicted felon, should not have possessed a firearm at all.

The 10-year-old suspected shooter has been taken into custody and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility. Davis, on the other hand, has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, facing multiple felony gun-related charges, as well as child endangerment and accessory after the fact. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

The loss of Keith Frierson has left the Sacramento County community in shock and mourning. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible gun ownership and the need for parents to provide proper guidance to their children. As the community comes together to support Keith’s loved ones during this difficult time, they hope that justice will be served and that such a devastating incident will never happen again.
