Punjab: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Punjab Armed Police (PAP) identified as Dalbir Singh was tragically discovered dead near Basti Bawa Khel in Jalandhar. The deceased officer was previously posted in Sangrur.

According to initial reports, DSP Dalbir Singh had a confrontation with several villagers in a nearby village in Jalandhar. During the altercation, he discharged a single round from his licensed revolver. Fortunately, the issue was later resolved amicably.

Speaking about the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Balwinder Singh Randhawa stated that they received information regarding the discovery of a deceased individual by the roadside. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the deceased was DSP Dalbir Singh, who was posted as part of the Punjab Armed Police in Sangrur. The body displayed an injury on the head. The authorities are currently accessing CCTV footage from the vicinity and further investigations are underway.

“One of his legs was found crushed. We are diligently investigating the matter,” commented Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma.

The road where DSP Dalbir Singh’s body was found leads to his village in Kapurthala. The incident location is approximately 8 kilometers away from his hometown, according to the commissioner. Singh’s family has filed a complaint regarding the matter, as confirmed by the police.

Police reports indicate that the DSP had previously been involved in a disagreement with residents of another locality in Jalandhar last month. However, no formal case was registered as the two parties mutually reached a compromise.

Dalbir Singh, who was a former weightlifter, was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award in the year 2000 for his remarkable achievements in the sport.
