OAKLAND, Calif. – In a recent development, several individuals have been apprehended by the Oakland Police Department in connection with the tragic shooting of Officer Tuan Le, who was killed during a burglary call on Friday. The arrests were confirmed by the police department through a Facebook post on Tuesday. However, specific details regarding the number of individuals arrested and their identities have not been disclosed at this time.
The Oakland Police Department expressed their deep sorrow and condolences in the Facebook post, stating, “Our officers continue to work tirelessly to bring justice to the Le family. We are all devastated by this senseless act of violence, and our hearts continue to mourn his passing.”

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Local news outlet KGO in San Francisco reported that a private memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 9, to honor Officer Tuan Le.
Case History
On Friday, authorities responded to a reported burglary in the 400 block of Embarcadero in Oakland around 1 a.m. Evidence of the burglary was found at the scene, but the suspects had already fled.
Later, at approximately 4:30 a.m., another burglary was reported in the same area. This time, officers witnessed individuals leaving the premises. The suspects opened fire on the plain-clothed officers, resulting in Officer Tuan Le being struck by a bullet.
Tragically, Officer Tuan Le succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital before 9 a.m.
The Oakland Police Department shared additional information about Officer Tuan Le. He was originally born in Saigon, Vietnam, and later relocated to Oakland. On September 11, 2001, he was naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Officer Tuan Le graduated from the police academy in February 2020, embarking on his career in law enforcement with great enthusiasm and dedication.
