BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) — The cause of a devastating house fire in northwestern Arizona that tragically claimed the lives of five children last month remains unknown and could take several months to determine, according to authorities on Tuesday.

Bullhead City police have revealed that the analysis of the fire debris is currently being conducted in a federal laboratory by chemists and electrical engineers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The father of four of the children had left them and a young relative at home for approximately 2 1/2 hours on December 16th so he could go out and purchase Christmas gifts and groceries. Upon his return, he was devastated to find the charred remains of their family home.
Authorities have not released the name of the father and have not confirmed if he will face any charges in connection with the fatal fire. The incident occurred in a close-knit community near the Colorado River and the Nevada border.
Investigators have determined that the fire originated in the downstairs foyer area of the two-story duplex. The flames and smoke quickly spread up the only staircase inside the home, ultimately preventing the children from escaping.
All the bodies of the children were discovered in an upstairs bedroom, further adding to the heartbreak and tragedy of the incident.
The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Tuesday that the victims have been identified as 4-year-old Freya Jones and her three brothers — 2-year-old Elias Jones, 5-year-old Zane Jones, and 13-year-old John Jones III. In addition, 11-year-old Henry Lewis, a relative who was visiting at the time, also lost his life in the fire.
