Police Launch Homicide Investigation Following Fatal Shooting in Charleston, MO

CHARLESTON, MO – The Charleston Department of Public Safety has commenced a homicide investigation after a tragic early morning shooting claimed the life of one man. Chief Robert Hearnes of the Charleston Police expressed concern about the dangerous nature of the shooter and emphasized the importance of removing such individuals from the streets.

According to Chief Hearnes, authorities received a distress call at approximately 4 AM reporting a shooting incident at the 500 block of Ada Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Malik Jones from Caruthersville, MO, was promptly transported to a local hospital but was sadly pronounced dead.

In response to this tragic event, Chief Hearnes has reached out to several other law enforcement agencies for assistance in the ongoing investigation.

CHARLESTON, Mo. — The police are actively searching for a suspect following a fatal shooting on Monday.

Chief Hearnes revealed that both the Missouri State Highway Patrol and The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office are collaborating with his department to aid in the investigation.
