Tragic Incident in Gurugram: Man Commits Suicide After Killing Wife, Leaving Son Behind

In a heart-wrenching incident, a man took his own life hours after brutally murdering his wife, leaving their two-year-old son beside her lifeless body in Gurugram. The police reported this shocking incident on Monday.

According to the authorities, the man managed to flee the crime scene and later allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad.

Identified as Gaurav Sharma, a 30-year-old man, he mercilessly slit his wife’s throat using a sharp-edged weapon and brutally attacked her head with a brick, as revealed by the police. Disturbingly, he also assaulted his own son with the same brick.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Laxmi Rawat.

The police were alerted by the cries of the toddler coming from inside a house located in DLF Phase 3, thanks to vigilant neighbors. Sensing something amiss, the neighbors immediately informed the security guard. Upon investigation, the guard discovered that the house was locked from the inside and promptly contacted the police, late on Sunday night.

The officials swiftly arrived at the scene and forcefully entered the premises, only to find the lifeless body of the woman and the injured child crying beside her.

Interestingly, the mobile phone of the deceased woman was discovered on the toilet seat, providing a vital clue for the investigation, confirmed the police.

The injured child was immediately rushed to a nearby civil hospital, and later referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital for further treatment. Eventually, he was handed over to the woman’s family members, who took him to their native place in Agra.

Laxmi, originally from Agra, had been residing in Gurugram with her husband Gaurav since their relocation approximately six months ago.

While Gaurav was previously employed with a private company, he had been unemployed lately, as stated by the police.

Suspected Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal

The police suspect that an argument between the couple escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in this gruesome incident. Authorities believe that the woman was killed after being struck with a brick.

Inspector Dinkar, SHO of DLF Phase-3 police station, said, “All the circumstantial evidence suggests that Gaurav Sharma, who committed suicide, had killed his wife Laxmi. We have filed an FIR of murder against him.”

Due to Gaurav’s phone being out of service, the police received a breakthrough when they were informed around 11:45 pm that a person had allegedly taken their own life by jumping from the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad.

A police team promptly reached Kaushambi and confirmed the deceased’s identity as Gaurav Sharma.

Shubham Patel, Trans Hindon Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), stated that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination.

The investigation into this horrific incident is currently underway.
