The Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack received a report of a two-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 270 prior to Old Georgetown Road at approximately 5 a.m. on Monday, 1st January 2024. Preliminary investigations indicate that Adigwe had pulled over on the shoulder of the highway to refuel his vehicle when he was struck by the Nissan.

The investigation into this tragic incident is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. Once their investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, who will then determine whether charges should be filed in relation to this case.

As part of the investigation process, I-270 was temporarily closed to allow for the thorough examination of the crash scene. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and the Montgomery County Fire Department provided assistance in redirecting traffic and ensuring public safety during this period. The investigation is currently ongoing and remains active.
