The incident involved a 2014 Toyota Corolla, driven by 23-year-old Nicholas Ainsley, a resident of Pittsfield. The vehicle was traveling east on West Housatonic Street when it struck two individuals who were in the process of crossing the road.

The pedestrians have been identified as Shannon M. Steffey, 34, and Matthew Squires, 32, both residents of Pittsfield. The impact of the collision left both victims with severe injuries, requiring immediate medical attention.
