Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Inaugurates 12 State-of-the-Art Operating Theatres

Sahiwal, UK – In a momentous occasion, Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal inaugurated a cutting-edge surgical tower at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital on Monday. The newly established tower boasts 12 advanced operating theatres, marking a significant milestone in the development of public health facilities in the Sahiwal division.

Commenting on this groundbreaking achievement, Prof Dr Imran Hasan, Principal of Sahiwal Medical College (SMC), highlighted the hospital’s crucial role in catering to the healthcare needs of the region’s 6.7 million inhabitants. With an impressive capacity of 1,150 beds, the hospital currently serves more than 2,000 patients daily in its outpatient department (OPD).

Dr Hasan emphasized that the introduction of these state-of-the-art operating theatres would greatly enhance the doctors’ ability to perform surgeries under optimal conditions, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.

Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme Empowers Students in Sahiwal

Following the inauguration ceremony, Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal took part in another momentous event by distributing 191 laptops among deserving students at Comsat University in Sahiwal. The initiative, known as the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme, aims to empower the youth and foster a digital revolution across the nation.

Accompanied by the esteemed campus director, Dr Nazir Ahmed, Commissioner Iqbal handed out laptops to a total of 102 female and 89 male students. Expressing his optimism about the scheme, Mr Iqbal highlighted how these laptops would enable the students to connect with digital spaces and stay at the forefront of technological advancements.

Robbery Suspect Apprehended After Encounter with Police

In a separate incident, the Farid Town police successfully arrested an injured suspect following a thrilling encounter with three robbers. According to reports, the incident unfolded last night when the trio snatched a motorcycle from an unsuspecting individual in Ghala Mandi before fleeing towards Chak 92/6-R.

Swiftly responding to the robbery, the police pursued the suspects, who opened fire on the police van near Dera Jaffar. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, leading to the capture of one of the robbers, identified as Ali Ahmed. However, the remaining two culprits, Muhammad Shahid and Umer Farooq, managed to evade arrest and escape the scene.

The injured robber, Ali Ahmed, was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The Farid Town police have launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the absconding culprits and bring them to justice.
