Post Falls Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapons Bust
POST FALLS – In the early hours of this morning, a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop near Interstate 90 and Pleasant View Road in Post Falls, Idaho.

During the stop, the deputy detected the distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Amber N. Letchworth from Colbert, Washington, was found to have an active warrant for driving without privileges in Nez Perce County, Idaho.
Following protocol, the deputy carried out a probable cause search of the vehicle, which led to a shocking discovery. Approximately one pound of methamphetamine, 1,000 fentanyl pills, three firearms (including a sawed-off shotgun and a stolen handgun), marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were uncovered.
The passenger, identified as 38-year-old Joshua D. Letchworth, also from Colbert, Washington, was immediately arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Amber was taken into custody for her outstanding warrants along with additional charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property (firearm), trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office commended the deputy for their vigilance during the traffic stop, which led to the removal of dangerous drugs and weapons from the streets. The local community is grateful for their commitment to public safety.
