The Clarkstown Police Department responded to a welfare check at the residence around 12:20 am (local time) and found the four family members deceased. The victims have been identified as Watson Morgan (49), his wife Ornela Morgan (43), and their two sons aged 10 and 12, according to a statement by the Clarkstown Police Department.

The New York Post reported that all four victims had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Watson Morgan, a former NYPD officer and currently a sergeant with the Bronxville Police Department, is believed to have killed his wife and children before taking his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The police recovered a handgun at the scene.

Authorities have assured that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Clarksville Police Detective Norm Peters mentioned that they conducted a wellness check after Watson Morgan failed to report to work at 11:30 pm on Friday. There is no history of domestic violence at the Morgans’ residence, according to Peters.

The motive behind the tragic shooting remains under investigation, said Peters. Bronxville Chief of Police Christopher Satriale expressed condolences to Sergeant Morgan’s extended family and stated that they will continue to share updates based on the ongoing investigation.

He later joined the Bronxville force in 2007, became part of the detective division in 2014, and was promoted to sergeant in 2016, as per sources. Ornela Morgan, on the other hand, worked as a teacher at One World Middle School in the Bronx for the NYC Department of Education, according to sources.

The tragic loss of Ornela Morgan and her family has deeply saddened the educational community. Educators of NYC expressed their condolences on Twitter, writing, “We mourn the senseless loss of @NYCSchools teacher, Ornela Morgan, and her family. Rest in power, sister!”

The 3,200-square-foot home where the tragedy occurred was last sold in November 2016 for $846,910, as recorded by Zillow.
