Software Engineer Falls from Balcony

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Bhattarahalli near KR Pura, east Bengaluru, a 27-year-old software engineer met an untimely demise after accidentally falling from the 33rd-floor balcony of his friend’s flat on Friday morning. The victim, identified as Divyanshu Sharma, had been enjoying a late-night party before the unfortunate incident occurred, as reported by TOI.

According to the police, Divyanshu had been celebrating the new year with his friends until the early hours. It was during an attempt to dispose of cigarette ash from the balcony that he tragically slipped and fell near the walking track of the apartment complex.

The incident occurred in Monica’s flat, which belonged to Divyanshu’s friend. Initial investigations indicate that after returning from a movie and a visit to a pub, Divyanshu fell asleep in the living room while his friends retired to the bedroom. Before calling it a night, he had informed Monica about his intention to clean up the party area, which was strewn with cigarette butts and ash.

At around 7 am the next morning, Divyanshu walked towards the balcony, only to meet a tragic fate. The police suspect that his imbalance could have been influenced by the lingering effects of a hangover. The investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to his fatal fall.

The shocking incident came to light when residents of the apartment complex discovered Divyanshu’s lifeless body and promptly sounded the alarm on the community’s WhatsApp group. The message included a photo of Divyanshu’s ID card, which grabbed Monica’s attention. She and their mutual friends rushed downstairs, only to find him already deceased.

Further examination by the police uncovered traces of cigarette ash on the balcony floor, close to the railings. The presence of shoe imprints on the ash indicated that the victim was attempting to dispose of it from the balcony before the unfortunate accident occurred.
