The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Arrests 10-Year-Old on Murder Charge for Fatally Shooting Another Child

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a 10-year-old child on a murder charge following the tragic incident of a fatal shooting involving another 10-year-old, who sadly passed away on Saturday.

Authorities responded to an emergency call reporting a shooting incident at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time on Saturday. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an unconscious juvenile with severe head and neck injuries, bleeding profusely. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated CPR until the Sacramento Metro Fire Department arrived at the scene. The injured child, later identified as a 10-year-old male, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital but, tragically, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

According to officials, the shooting transpired when the alleged perpetrator, also a 10-year-old, ventured outside to retrieve cigarettes from his father’s vehicle. In a disturbing turn of events, the young boy acquired a gun from the vehicle and proceeded to boast about his father’s possession of firearms. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office shared these distressing details in a Facebook post.

“He then proceeded to shoot the victim once and fled into a nearby apartment,” the social media post stated.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, all individuals inside the apartment building were instructed to exit and were subsequently detained. Alongside an adult who was later identified as Arkete Davis, 53, two juveniles emerged from the building, providing cooperation to the authorities.

The 10-year-old suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility. The Sheriff’s Office has since charged him with murder, as announced on Sunday.

Subsequently, Davis, the father of the alleged shooter, was arrested and confined to the Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces multiple felony firearms charges, including carrying a stolen, loaded firearm in a vehicle, child endangerment, and being an accessory after the fact. Authorities have scheduled his court appearance for January 3, and he is currently held on $500,000 bail. It remains unclear whether Davis has legal representation at this time.

This tragic incident has shocked the local community, leaving them grappling with the devastating loss of a young life.
