BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Following a thorough homicide investigation, the Birmingham Police Department has apprehended three individuals in connection with the tragic shooting incident that took place on December 23, resulting in the death of a man.

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old David Wayne Nicholas, who was fatally shot in the 1400 Block of Lake Lane on Saturday, December 23. The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has been actively working on this case to ensure justice is served.

According to the BPD, an adult female was also abducted during the incident. Fortunately, she was later found unharmed, providing some relief amidst the tragedy.

The three suspects involved in this heinous crime have been identified as 43-year-old Dustin Stanfield from Hoover, 33-year-old Joshua Guthrie from Birmingham, and 33-year-old Brittany Patterson from Mt. Olive.

Stanfield, Guthrie, and Patterson are now facing charges of Capital Murder (Kidnapping) and Kidnapping 1st Degree, reflecting the severity of their alleged crimes.

Law enforcement took swift action, apprehending Stanfield and Guthrie on Sunday, December 24, while Patterson was arrested on Saturday, December 30. All three suspects are currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
