She couldn’t help but think that the woman in the drawing resembled her. Intrigued, Suzanne read on and discovered that the post was about the cold case of a woman known as the Finley Creek Jane Doe.

What shocked Suzanne even more was the description of the clothing worn by the Jane Doe – red pants and a white blouse. This was the exact outfit her mother was last seen wearing when she disappeared in August of 1976.

Suzanne’s memories of that time are vivid, despite being just a young child. On the night of August 31, 1976, Suzanne and her sister Natalie, who were only 2 and 4 years old at the time, respectively, witnessed a heated argument between their parents. Suzanne recalls hearing crashing sounds and yelling, and even saw her mother hit her father. The last thing she remembers is her mother being dragged out of sight.

The next morning, Suzanne and Natalie were abruptly woken up by their father, who told them they needed to leave. They spent the day at their father’s girlfriend’s house, and later that night, their father dropped them off at their mother’s sister’s house, claiming he was going to look for their mother.

According to Suzanne, her father told them that their mother had abandoned them and ran off with another man. However, Patty’s sister, Aunt Alice, immediately suspected foul play and reported Patty missing to the Lewiston Police Department on September 2, 1976.

Tom Saleen, a retired lieutenant from the Lewiston PD who investigated Patty’s disappearance, recalls meeting Ralph Otto, Patty’s husband, who claimed that Patty had left after an argument. But Suzanne reveals that her mother had been trying to get a divorce from her father, and she believes that was the cause of the argument that night.

Another person of interest in the case was Randy Benton, a man Patty had been seeing. Benton admits to being involved with Patty the night before her disappearance and had a feeling that something was wrong when he heard about her disappearance. He was interviewed by the police but claims he had no knowledge of Patty’s whereabouts.

Despite extensive interviews and investigation, no significant leads emerged in Patty’s case. However, in September 1978, two years after her disappearance, a body was found. Suzanne remembers her grandparents going to see the body, hoping it would be Patty, but it turned out to be someone else.

Suzanne and her sister Natalie have never given up hope of finding their mother. They continue to search for answers and hold onto the memories they have of her. Suzanne is determined to uncover the truth about what happened to Patty and bring closure to her family.
