San Pablo Woman Charged with Murder After Intentionally Running Over Pedestrian

A 39-year-old woman from San Pablo has been charged with murder following an incident where she purposely ran over a pedestrian with her vehicle, as confirmed by the San Pablo Police Department.

The accused, identified as Dene Blakely, allegedly believed that the victim had previously stolen packages from her residence, leading to the tragic confrontation that ultimately resulted in the victim’s death.

The fatal incident occurred on December 8 at approximately 2:27 p.m. on the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue. Blakely confronted the victim while she was walking and proceeded to run her over with her vehicle, according to the police report.

Upon arriving at the scene of the collision, responding officers discovered the 60-year-old victim suffering from severe injuries. Blakely remained present, and the authorities proceeded to question her regarding the incident.

According to a statement released by the San Pablo Police Department, it was swiftly determined that Blakely, the driver of the vehicle, had engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim prior to the collision. The argument reportedly revolved around the theft of packages, which Blakely believed the victim to be responsible for.

During the subsequent investigation, it was revealed that Blakely had confronted the victim, and the situation escalated into the tragic collision that claimed the victim’s life.

The victim underwent emergency surgery at a local hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries on December 23, resulting in her untimely demise. The victim’s identity has not been released by the authorities at this time.

Upon further investigation, detectives concluded that the fatal collision was a premeditated act of assault. As a result, on Friday, Blakely was arraigned in a Contra Costa County courtroom on charges of murder.

Blakely is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility, awaiting further legal proceedings.
