Mumbai Police has once again displayed its innovative approach in dealing with crimes and criminals. The operation took place in the SV Road area during the early hours of Sunday. Inspector Sawant disguised himself as a food delivery agent to gain the trust of the accused. After a brief chase, the police team managed to apprehend Makhanoja and recover the illegal drugs. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In an unrelated incident, Mumbai’s Crime Branch Unit 11 also made significant progress in their fight against drug peddlers. Two individuals, Akshay Jagtap and Iqbal Anwar Hussain, were arrested in the Santosh Nagar area, and drugs worth ₹12 lakh were seized from them. The police have filed a case against the accused under the NDPS Act.

In a separate development, Mumbai Police achieved a breakthrough in a long-standing murder case. After 31 years, they successfully apprehended a wanted man, Deepak Narayan Bhise, in the Nalasopara area of Palghar district. Bhise had been on the run since the murder case in 1989. He had changed multiple locations over the years before settling in Nalasopara, where he lived with his family under false identities. Bhise was involved in the killing of Raju Chikna and was also accused of attempting to murder Dharmendra Saroj.

The police managed to track down Bhise by obtaining his wife’s mobile phone number. He had been declared absconding by the court in 2003, and the police were tasked with finding him. After his arrest, Bhise was produced in court and has been charged under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
