Man Arrested After Violent Crime Spree in Bay County, Florida

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – In a shocking turn of events, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a man following a violent crime spree on Saturday morning. The suspect, identified as Dillon Joshua Hutton, a 30-year-old resident of Bonifay, was taken into custody after attempting to evade deputies.

According to authorities, the incident unfolded when a BCSO deputy initiated a traffic stop on Hutton for speeding on Highway 98, in the western part of Panama City Beach. However, instead of cooperating, Hutton made a daring escape, leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase into the Laguna Beach area.

During his attempt to evade capture, Hutton resorted to desperate measures. On 1st Street, he tried to steal an unoccupied vehicle but was met with resistance from the vehicle’s owner, who courageously defended their property by shooting at Hutton. Despite sustaining injuries, Hutton managed to flee the scene in his own vehicle, making his way onto Back Beach Road.

As the pursuit continued, the Panama City Beach Police Department joined forces with the BCSO to bring an end to Hutton’s crime spree. In a reckless display of disregard for public safety, Hutton crashed into three vehicles in an under-construction area. Undeterred by the chaos he caused, he even attempted another carjacking at the crash site, but was swiftly apprehended by the authorities.

Hutton now faces a litany of charges, including multiple counts of Fleeing and Eluding, Attempted Carjacking, Carjacking and Battery, and Attempted Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Furthermore, the Panama City Beach Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, and BCSO are considering additional charges against Hutton.

Investigators believe that Hutton may have been involved in several vehicle burglaries and thefts prior to his arrest. As a result, law enforcement agencies are diligently working to gather evidence and piece together the full extent of his criminal activities.
