Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that Saeed Ali Williams was observed speeding while traveling south on I-275 shortly after 3 a.m. Upon noticing Williams’ reckless behavior, a trooper activated their emergency lights and attempted to pull him over.
However, Williams, determined to evade capture, accelerated and aggressively maneuvered between lanes in an attempt to escape the pursuing trooper, as stated by authorities.
The Pursuit and Arrest
Despite Williams’ efforts, FHP troopers continued to tail him until he ultimately crashed his vehicle on 34th St N, just north of Ulmerton Rd. Following the crash, Williams quickly exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
While Williams was on the run, a trooper pursued him on foot, repeatedly instructing him to halt, but Williams ignored the commands, claims FHP.
Eventually, troopers managed to apprehend Williams, taking him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Pinellas County Jail to face charges related to his actions.
The Charges
Authorities have charged Williams with several offenses, including fleeing and eluding a police officer, resisting an officer without violence (obstruction), leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and violation of parole – trafficking cocaine.
Williams’ Identity Confirmed
During the investigation, authorities positively identified Williams as the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the incident. This confirmation further solidified the case against him.
Previous Offences
It is worth noting that Williams was already on parole for a previous conviction related to cocaine trafficking. This violation of his parole will likely have serious consequences for him.
Conclusion
The swift actions of the Florida Highway Patrol led to the arrest of Saeed Ali Williams, a 34-year-old Clearwater man who attempted to flee from law enforcement after being caught speeding. Williams now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, leaving the scene of a crash, and violating his parole for trafficking cocaine.
