Accident – death – Obituary News : Frightening CCTV footage has emerged showing the brutal attack on a 67-year-old man in a Houston parking lot after he mistakenly tried to enter his attackers’ car. The victim, Florentino Hurtado, who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s, was accosted by Trayvion Lockridge and Derodric Stephens outside a local meat market on Saturday. The assailants are currently in police custody and face charges of aggravated robbery of a victim over the age of 65.

The shocking video shows Hurtado stumbling and getting up, clearly confused and disoriented. He then begins to wander towards a nearby pawnshop, where he pulls on the door handle of Lockridge and Stephens’ car. It is believed that Hurtado mistook their vehicle for his daughter’s. His daughter, Jessica, explained that her father likely got confused due to his condition and the fact that he does not speak English.

In the security clip, Jessica narrates the events leading up to the attack, expressing her belief that a simple push or instruction to go away would have sufficed. She emphasizes that her father was with her mother at the time and requires constant supervision. The heartbreaking video shows Hurtado being violently assaulted by the two men, who rain blows on him before stomping him to the ground.

After the attack, the perpetrators managed to escape, leaving Hurtado with a broken cheekbone, numerous cuts requiring stitches, and a possible traumatic brain injury. The attackers also stole his cellphone. Jessica described her father as weighing less than 100 pounds and highlighted the difficulty of watching the surveillance video, knowing that her father did not deserve such aggression.

Lockridge’s bond was initially set at $1 million, but the defense argued for a lower amount of $3,000. Ultimately, the bond was set at $50,000. Stephens, on the other hand, has not had his bond set yet due to having five pending cases in addition to the new charge. The aggravated robbery charge carries a maximum penalty of 99 years in prison.

As Hurtado continues to recover in the hospital, his daughter expressed her frustration with the state’s decision regarding Lockridge’s bond. She emphasized that her father did not deserve this brutal attack and called for justice.

The assault has left Hurtado with a potential brain injury and several stitches. Although he had a moment of clarity in the hospital where he questioned why someone would do this to him, he has since forgotten about the incident due to his condition.

The Houston police are currently investigating the incident, and both Lockridge and Stephens remain in custody. The horrific attack has shed light on the vulnerability of individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s and the need for greater awareness and protection for this vulnerable population..
