A shocking and tragic incident unfolded in New City, as a Bronxville police sergeant is believed to have killed his wife and two children before taking his own life, according to the Clarkstown police. The community is left in shock as authorities investigate the devastating event.

Responding to a welfare check at 10 Clydesdale Court in the early hours of the morning, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of an adult male, adult female, and two juvenile males inside the residence. Law enforcement sources have revealed that the adult female and the two children were shot, while the adult male, identified as Watson Morgan, appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Morgan, aged 49, was a sergeant with the Bronxville Police Department and had an extensive career in law enforcement.

According to his bio on the department website, Morgan started his career with the NYPD in 2001 and retired in 2007 before joining the Bronxville force the same year. He had achieved the rank of detective in 2014 and was promoted to sergeant in 2016. The female victim has been identified as Ornela Morgan, 43 years old. The two sons, aged 10 and 12, tragically lost their lives in the incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene, adding to the unsettling nature of the tragedy.

The Clarkstown community is coming together to support those affected by this devastating event. Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann has announced that grief counselors will be available at schools when they reopen after the holiday break, ensuring that students and staff have access to emotional support during this difficult time.

As detectives continue their investigation, the house where the incident occurred remains cordoned off. The Christmas decorations, still adorning the residence, serve as a somber reminder of the tragedy that unfolded within its walls.

The Clarkstown Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and provide assistance. They can be reached at 845-639-5840.

The Clarkstown Central School District has expressed its condolences, referring to the incident as a “tragic loss” in a letter addressed to parents. The impact of this heartbreaking event is felt within the community, particularly at Laurel Plains Elementary School and Felix Festa Middle School. To support students, families, and staff who may require emotional support, both schools will be open on New Year’s Eve from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m., offering a safe space to seek comfort and solace.

In a separate letter, Superintendent Marc Baiocco listed resources for parents to access during this challenging time. These resources include the 24/7, confidential support line at 988, which provides assistance to individuals in suicidal crisis or experiencing mental health-related distress. Additionally, the Rockland County Behavioral Health Response Team offers mobile behavioral health services around the clock. For emergencies, individuals are advised to dial 911 or contact the Clarkstown Police directly at (845) 639-5800.
