Namakkal Woman Police Officer Commits Suicide Over Family Feud
Namakkal: A tragic incident unfolded in Namakkal town on Saturday as an armed reserve woman police officer took her own life. The deceased, S Vaishnavi, 32, hailing from Attur in Salem district, was a member of the Namakkal district armed reserve police and resided near the Anjaneyar temple in Namakkal town.

The incident came to light when Vaishnavi was admitted to a private hospital on December 28, complaining of severe vomiting after consuming food laced with pesticide. The doctors immediately alerted the police about the incident. During the investigation, Vaishnavi revealed that she had married Manivel, 38, a few years ago and got divorced a year ago. She later married Sekar, 40, a police constable in the Nilgiris district, and had a four-year-old boy.
A police officer from the Namakkal town police station stated, “The exact reason behind her extreme step can only be ascertained after further inquiry. However, it has been revealed that a family feud was the cause of her consuming pesticide.”
Following her admission to the private hospital in Namakkal, Vaishnavi was referred to another private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her condition on Saturday without responding to the treatment.
This incident highlights the importance of addressing family conflicts and providing necessary support to individuals facing emotional distress. Suicide prevention measures and counseling services should be made readily available to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
