The alleged incidents came to light when a 14-year-old girl accused a 20-year-old man, identified as Danish from Maikupurwa in the Cantonment area, of kidnapping, raping, and attempting to forcibly convert her to Islam over a period of two months. These shocking events unfolded after the accused, who had befriended the girl on Instagram, managed to persuade her to leave her home and stay with him.
Responding to the father’s complaint, the police have taken action by registering a case under various sections, including 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), and relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. The authorities have successfully apprehended Danish.

A web of deception and assault
According to the girl’s account, she had initially connected with Danish through social media a few months ago. On the 22nd of October, he managed to convince her to elope from her residence. To impress her, Danish would send her images of luxurious homes and cars, falsely claiming ownership. However, upon reaching his house, the girl was confronted with the reality of an old and dilapidated dwelling.
As per the girl’s testimony, Danish allegedly subjected her to rape and coerced her into consuming non-vegetarian food and participating in Islamic prayers, known as ‘namaz’. When she resisted, both Danish and his family members reportedly resorted to physical assault. Recently, Danish arranged for a cleric to visit, with plans to conduct their ‘nikah’ on the 30th of December. The girl claims that she was taken to a mosque, where her name was changed to Muskan Khan.
Hindu group intervenes to rescue the girl
Upon learning of the dire situation, members of a Hindu group stepped in on Friday, successfully rescuing the girl from Danish’s residence. However, Danish and his family managed to escape. Subsequently, the accused was apprehended by the police. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Lakhan Singh confirmed that further investigations into the matter are currently underway.
Earlier this month, Hindutva activists in Karnataka celebrated the marriage of Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth and Muslim woman Ayesha as a “reverse love jihad” victory. They shared photos on social media, showcasing the couple dressed in Hindu attire. Given the sensitivity of the region, this incident is likely to fuel controversy.
