Texas DPS Investigates Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Rogers Road

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic collision between two vehicles that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred at the intersection of Rogers Road and Grand Oaks Drive. The preliminary crash investigation reveals that on December 28, 2023, around 1:05 p.m., a dirt bike, specifically an Apollo DB-X18, was heading south from Grand Oaks Drive towards Rogers Road. Simultaneously, a 2016 Ford F-750 propane truck was traveling east on Rodgers Road.

According to the initial findings, the rider of the dirt bike, a 13-year-old white male from Willis, failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. As a consequence, the Ford truck collided with the dirt bike at the intersection. Tragically, the young rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as confirmed by Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack. The driver of the Ford truck, identified as Michael Ray Reed, a 61-year-old resident of Huntsville, fortunately remained unharmed.

At present, this incident is still under investigation by the authorities, and no further details are available for release. The Texas DPS is diligently working to gather additional information to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate collision.
