The accused murderer, Dene Blakely, believed that the victim had previously stolen packages from her residence, leading to the tragic confrontation.

The incident occurred on December 8 at approximately 2:27 p.m. on the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue, when Blakely confronted the victim and intentionally ran her over, causing severe injuries.

Upon arriving at the scene of the collision, responding officers found the 60-year-old victim with significant injuries. Blakely remained at the scene and was immediately questioned by law enforcement.

Investigations revealed that Blakely harbored suspicions of the victim being involved in package theft, which prompted her to engage in a verbal altercation with the victim. Unfortunately, this altercation escalated and led to the tragic collision.
