Police Chase in Miami County Ends in Arrest of Walton Man

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. — A Walton man was apprehended a few days before Christmas following a high-speed police pursuit in Miami County. The chase was initiated by Indiana State Police (ISP) troopers after they discovered that the driver had active warrants in Miami and Cass Counties.

According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, the incident took place on December 22, shortly after 4:15 p.m. An ISP trooper was on patrol in the vicinity of Wallick Road near County Road 300 South in Peru when they observed the suspect.

Upon recognizing that the driver of a 1996 Dodge pickup truck had outstanding felony warrants, the trooper, accompanied by a partner, decided to conduct a traffic stop. However, as the troopers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver, later identified as 42-year-old Ryan M. Oldaker of Walton, allegedly evaded them by speeding through the yard of a nearby residence. He then proceeded southbound on Wallick Road before turning west onto County Road 500 South.

The troopers initiated a pursuit, chasing Oldaker on County Road 500 South. The chase continued until it reached a residence near County Road 200 East, where the suspect was eventually apprehended and taken into custody.

Upon searching Oldaker’s Dodge, troopers reportedly discovered a significant amount of evidence. This included suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and other controlled substances.

Ryan M. Oldaker now faces multiple charges, including dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Miami County Jail.

This incident serves as a reminder of the vigilant efforts made by Indiana State Police to ensure public safety and bring individuals with active warrants to justice.
