“Mother Arrested in Putnam County for Connection to Death of Two-Year-Old Child”

Accident – Death – Obituary News : PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities in Putnam County have apprehended a mother more than two weeks after her boyfriend was taken into custody for his involvement in the tragic death of her two-year-old child.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday, December 29, that Sara Mora has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact for allegedly aiding her boyfriend’s escape from law enforcement.

The investigation was initiated on Saturday, December 2, following a distress call concerning an unresponsive two-year-old. Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded to the call.

The child, identified as Ventura Mora-Francisco, was immediately rushed to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and subsequently transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further treatment. Tragically, it was discovered at Vanderbilt that the child had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the two-year-old sadly succumbed to the injuries on December 5.

Authorities had previously announced on Wednesday, December 13, that Sara Mora’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Ashton Cole Sensing, was wanted in connection with the child’s death. Sensing was reportedly babysitting Ventura along with three other children when the incident occurred.

According to officials, Sensing confessed to becoming agitated with the child multiple times throughout the day, which ultimately led to him throwing the child against a wall and physically assaulting him.

On Thursday, December 14, Sensing was apprehended at the Dollar Tree store located on W. Broad Street in Putnam County. Mora allegedly confessed to authorities that she had driven Sensing to an undisclosed location in Ashland City, and subsequently, she brought him back to Putnam County.

Sara Mora is currently being held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2024.
