A devastating incident occurred on Saturday in Corinna, Maine, as a man and two children were rushed to the hospital following a collision with a tree. The Maine State Police promptly responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which took place on Route 7 near the Newport town line at approximately 10:39 a.m. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a silver Ford Taurus carrying three individuals, among them a 10-year-old child who sustained severe injuries.

Law enforcement authorities have identified the driver as 48-year-old James Smith from Newport. Shockingly, it was revealed that Smith’s driver’s license had been suspended in both Maine and Florida. The circumstances surrounding this suspension were not disclosed by the police.

According to the preliminary investigation, Smith was traveling along Route 7 on Saturday morning when he veered off the right side of the road, colliding with a tree. The impact of the crash was significant, resulting in the serious injury of the 10-year-old child. The young victim was immediately transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where they are currently receiving critical but stable care. Smith and the other passenger, a 7-year-old child, were also taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
