Police: Lancaster County man allegedly fires gunshots near airport

The box truck driver had just made a delivery to a business at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport when he found himself targeted. While in a parking lot, he heard a sudden “pop” sound and saw a Dodge Charger with a gun pointed at him. The driver of the Charger, later identified as Tyler Mieczkowski, fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.
The Police Chase
Law enforcement authorities quickly responded to the incident and initiated a chase after spotting the suspect’s vehicle. Despite their efforts to pull Mieczkowski over, he refused to stop and continued to evade the police. To bring the pursuit to an end, spike strips were deployed, slowing down the suspect’s vehicle. Ultimately, a trooper used a pit maneuver to force the Charger to stop.
The Arrest
Attempting to escape, Mieczkowski tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by the police. He is currently in custody in Westmoreland County, where he faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and recklessly endangering another person.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the shooting or the subsequent pursuit. However, the box truck sustained damage, with a bullet hole in the middle of the front windshield and bullet holes behind the driver’s side cab.
