Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Didsbury Teens

The Didsbury community is mourning the loss of two teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a rollover accident on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Township Road 292 and Range Road 14 in Mountain View County, approximately 50 kilometers north of Calgary.

The victims have been identified as Reid Holuck, 16, also known as Reid Fisher, and Lila Morison, 14, both students at Didsbury High School. The entire community is devastated by this heartbreaking accident.

Community Fundraising Efforts

A GoFundMe page has been created for Lila Morison, describing her as a vibrant girl who had a passion for volleyball and a love for cats. Her family is described as “beyond devastated” by this tragedy.

Another GoFundMe page has been set up for Reid Holuck, highlighting his role as a friend, son, and brother. The page emphasizes the impact Reid had on those around him.

Grieving Families Share Heartbreak

Rachelle Fisher, Reid’s mother, took to Facebook to express her unimaginable sorrow. She described spending a great day with her son and his partner before the accident took them away. In her post, she shared a biblical passage from John 3:16, seeking solace in her faith during this difficult time.

Gwen Morrison, Lila’s mother, also expressed her profound love for her daughter on social media. She described Lila as a ball of energy in a tiny body, always spreading love wherever she went. Gwen highlighted Lila’s passion for her sport, volleyball, and expressed gratitude for the love and support shown to her daughter.

Accident Details

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the two teens were traveling in a Dodge pickup truck at the time of the accident. It is believed that they were not wearing seatbelts, which may have contributed to the severity of their injuries.

Community Support

The GoFundMe campaigns for both families have set a goal of $20,000 each to support them during this challenging time. As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, each campaign has already raised $10,000.

Memorial Services

The Zion Church in Didsbury will hold a memorial service for Lila on January 3 at 2 p.m. This service will provide an opportunity for friends and community members to share their stories and memories of Lila and the bond she shared with Reid.

Reid’s family will hold a separate memorial service on Wednesday, January 3.
