Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Norfolk’s Downtown Tunnel

Virginia State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic and fatal head-on collision that occurred on Saturday morning inside the Downtown Tunnel in Norfolk. The accident resulted in the loss of a precious life, leaving the community in mourning and authorities determined to uncover the circumstances that led to such a devastating incident.

The reckless driver responsible for this horrifying crash has been identified as Dominique Goodwin, a 27-year-old resident of Chesapeake. Goodwin was operating a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan in the eastbound lanes of the tunnel, going against the flow of traffic. Tragically, Goodwin’s vehicle collided head-on with a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, instantly claiming the life of the driver.

The victim of this senseless tragedy has been identified as Shelby Riddick-Walker, a 43-year-old resident of Portsmouth. Riddick-Walker’s life was abruptly cut short due to the actions of an irresponsible driver, leaving family and friends devastated by this sudden loss.

While Dominique Goodwin managed to survive the accident, they did sustain non-life-threatening injuries. However, it has been determined that alcohol played a significant role in causing this horrific crash, highlighting the dangers of impaired driving that continue to plague our roads.

Upon arriving at the accident scene, the attorney’s office was summoned to assess the situation. The investigation is currently ongoing, as authorities diligently work to gather all the necessary evidence and information to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this catastrophic collision. Pending the completion of the investigation, charges are expected to be filed against the responsible party.
