The Suspect’s Actions Leading Up to the Arson

According to the Edmonton Police Service, the man depicted in the images entered and exited the U-Haul building located at 111 Avenue and 154 Street multiple times just before the fire broke out. Notably, he was observed changing his shirt on numerous occasions during this period. The police have emphasized the significance of these actions, as they could potentially provide crucial clues about the suspect’s identity and motives.

Once the fire started, the individual promptly left the storage facility and proceeded to head south through the adjacent parking lot. This suspicious behavior has raised concerns among investigators, who are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The Extensive Efforts to Contain the Fire

Upon receiving a distress call at 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, Edmonton firefighters swiftly responded to the scene. The fire, which proved to be an arduous task for the fire crews, required their tireless efforts for several hours. Edmonton Fire Rescue Services personnel have described the incident as “about as labour intensive as firefighting can be.” The severity of the situation prompted the closure of a section of 111 Avenue as emergency responders worked diligently to control and extinguish the flames.

The battle against the fire continued throughout the night and into the afternoon of the following day. Investigators, after thorough examination, officially classified the incident as arson four days later, highlighting the deliberate nature of the fire. However, no injuries or estimates of the damage caused have been reported thus far, leaving authorities to focus their efforts on identifying the suspect responsible.
