ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Medical examiners have determined that the death of a baby, born a month after sustaining a gunshot wound during a quadruple shooting in May in St. Louis, is a homicide.

In the early hours of May 7, St. Louis Police discovered four individuals shot in the Hyde Park neighborhood, near 2100 Branch Street.

According to previous reports by First Alert 4, two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two victims, aged 18 and 17, were pregnant. Both were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Sadly, one of the victims was in the early stages of pregnancy, while the other was already 30 weeks along. In an attempt to save the unborn child, an emergency C-section was performed on the day of the shooting. Tragically, the baby was born with a gunshot wound.

The infant, identified as Dontrez Green in incident reports, fought for his life but succumbed to his injuries on June 11, approximately a month after the shooting.

On December 22, the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office officially ruled the death of Dontrez as a homicide, as stated in the incident reports released by the St. Louis Police.

According to the incident report, the Medical Examiner’s Office contacted the Homicide Division on June 22, confirming that victim five’s death was a homicide. The report also mentioned that the investigation into the case is still ongoing.

The identities of the surviving victims have not been disclosed, but the deceased victims were previously identified as Aaliyah Gillom, 18, from Castle Point, and Asia Baker, 18, from Spanish Lake.

Although Eddie Marcus Love is currently facing federal firearm and other charges related to the incident, murder charges have not been filed in St. Louis Circuit Court. The decision to charge Love with murder at the state level depends on the evidence presented, according to Christine Bertelson, spokesperson for the circuit attorney’s office.

In the federal case, Love is charged with conspiracy to possess controlled substances with intent to distribute, as well as discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime resulting in death. Additionally, he is accused of being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Among these charges, the most severe is discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime resulting in death. Federal prosecutors are currently reviewing whether Love is eligible for the death penalty in this regard.

Court docket entries in the federal case indicate that prosecutors intended to send the review to Washington in mid-December. Following this announcement, Love’s attorneys requested a continuance until March 7, which was granted.
