Darrin Kang Arrested and Booked into Clackamas County Jail

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 60-year-old man from Keizer, Oregon, is facing multiple charges following a short standoff with the Lake Oswego police in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident unfolded at approximately 5:15 a.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle on Country Club Road at Heathrow Lane, according to Lake Oswego authorities.

The driver, identified as Darrin Kang, 60, was driving within or below the speed limit but failed to stop when the officer activated the lights and siren. Additional officers arrived at the scene and strategically placed spike strips in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle. Despite one of the tires deflating, Kang continued driving, evading the police pursuit.

However, when the car eventually came to a stop at a red light on Boones Ferry, officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and tried to apprehend Kang. Despite his resistance, the officers were able to take him into custody after a brief struggle. Kang was placed in handcuffs and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Clackamas County Jail.

The charges filed against Kang include driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), resisting arrest, and attempting to elude an officer.

The Lake Oswego Police Department received assistance from various law enforcement agencies during the short standoff, including the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Gladstone Police, Milwaukie Police, and Tualatin Police. Additionally, a member of the Clackamas County Interagency Crisis Negotiation Team was present to provide support and expertise as needed.
