Bangladeshi Man Shot Dead by Border Security Force (BSF) near Sylhet’s Bichnakandi Border Area

A Bangladeshi man, identified as Kaswar Ahmed, 26, from Dakkhin Bogaiya village in Sylhet’s Gowainghat upazila, was shot and killed allegedly by the Border Security Force (BSF) inside Indian territory near Sylhet’s Bichnakandi border area last night, according to the officer-in-charge of Gowainghat Police Station, Rafiqul Islam.

According to OC Rafiqul Islam, the victim entered Indian territory for unknown reasons when he was shot and injured by the BSF. He was rushed back to his home, where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was later taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for an autopsy.

The incident is currently under investigation to determine the circumstances of the victim’s entry into Indian territory and the identity of the person who shot him, stated OC Rafiqul Islam.

When contacted, Faruk Ahmed, assistant director of Sylhet (48) Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh, claimed that they are not aware of the incident.
